Beginnings

by J.D. on 28 March 2010

“A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct.” — Frank Herbert, Dune

For four years, I’ve been writing a successful personal-finance blog. It’s something I know how to do well. But there’s something deep inside that’s pushing me to do something else, to do something more.

I believe that Success Daily is the next step in my personal journey. It’s a natural progression of my interests and passions. By writing here, I can develop more deeply as a person, and I can share what I learn along the way. It’s a chance for me to grow while helping others grow. But, as today’s meditation suggests, beginnings — especially ambitious beginnings — require balance. You’ve got to ask yourself if the time is right, if you’re prepared, and if the task you’re starting is really something you want to do.

I’ve been mulling over Success Daily since 2007. For three years, I’ve been planning this blog in the back of my mind. It’s only now, however, that the time has seemed right for me to begin. I’m ready now: I’m prepared, and I know this is something I want to do. Everything seems to be balanced.

It’s time for me to begin.

Thank you for beginning. I have been preparing to start my own new beginning for a long while now. Many times I wanted to start but I knew it was too soon. There was still some more tweeking to be done, some more strength to build up, some clarity and balance to be reached. Impatience threatened, but in the end it did not get the best of me. And now, I feel as though its all in alignment…and so what do I do next? I take that next step, faithfully and fearlessly…and I begin.

Thank you for the inspiration…

Interesting reference to Dune … a critique of capitalism/Empire/the petrochemical industry by a personal finance blogger (I’m a huge GRS fan) moving beyond money management.

As Baron Harkonnen says, “He who controls the Spice, controls the universe.”

I am excited to follow your journey on here.
I appreciate people who balance things – those who are both aware of their finances and living a fulfilling life. They can happen harmoniously – even if they aren’t *perfect* but so many people seem to talk about their dream lifestyle that they’re living while having oodles of debt or talk about how they are saving, investing and being frugal while they sit at home dreaming about the day they can start enjoying life!

Have a great day!
